First of all, I would like to thank you for all your generous donations and metal support to people of Myanmar, especially the Cyclone victims. We understand that there are lots of places which needs prompt help but we prefer not to have all eggs in one basket and places that are left from aids and want to avoid corrupted authority. That's why we are confidence for putting our hands in at Thauk Kyar village as 100% of your donation reached to the people in need directly. Finally, we have reached "Thauk-Kyar" village ( literally means Friday village) which is about 2 hrs boat ride from Phya-Pone, one of the biggest District in Irrawaddy Delta. So far, neither aids agency nor gov aids are reached and the villagers are relying on the local donor's supply. We have seen two to three donors on the way distributing the food supplies (mainly rice) but we doubt it could last next week. "Thauk Kyar" and it's sounding villages (total of 8 villages including TK) has total population about 4500 and about 600 died due to the Cyclone. Most of their houses are destroyed and hardly could re-build waiting for the donors to have shelter. Rain is coming soon and it's time that they should be working in the field treating the soil to produce the best quantity of rice. But nothing has started yet. Lack of tractors, machines and not enough time to work with cows and buffalos, still many rice fields are yet to be treated. If they don't grow rice at this season, they might need food supplies up to a year.
*Immediate Need: *
(1) There are about 40 houses left to be built and we estimated the cost of a house including bamboo and tarpaulin temporary rain-proof, is about 20,000 ks per houses. This is urgently needed as rain is already started and they need a shelter.
(2) A storage for Clean water supply.
(3) To dredge the existing ponds ( 1 ponds still left to be dredge out of 5 ) for daily use.
(4) To rebuild the school
(5) To rebuild the communal country clinic and medicine supplyfor children especially concerning with respiratory system.
(6) Rice bags, Mosquito Nets and cooking accessaries
(7) To supply 2 or 3 numbers ( even 1 is not bad) of machine to treat the soil with fuel supply.
